Canada’s last remaining grasslands are a vital national resource: storing carbon, supporting biodiversity, sustaining livestock production, and enhancing climate resilience. These landscapes
are under pressure, yet they hold immense potential to be part of Canada’s climate solution.
The CAT-G Project is a collaborative, science-driven initiative that pioneers climate-smart grazing strategies to improve soil carbon sequestration, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,
and boost cattle productivity. By integrating cutting-edge research with practical, on-the-ground grazing management, CAT-G is positioning Canada as a global leader in sustainable grazing
and livestock production.
With experimental sites across the Prairie Provinces and deep partnerships with producers, researchers, and policymakers, CAT-G is generating the knowledge, tools, and information
needed to accelerate meaningful change toward sustainable management and use of Canadian grassland. Together, we are advancing a shared vision of resilient, productive, and
climate-smart grassland and livestock systems.
